Bud Carter Trail

Topo Map

This a hilly walk through a Yarmouth watershed area.  The trail was laid out
by Bud Carter, and is dedicated to his memory.  A memorial bench is on the
trail.  Park just south of Weir Road, off North Dennis Road in Yarmouthport (001).

The Bud Carter Trail in Yarmouth is a little gem, hidden in a wooded and hilly
area west of North Dennis Road, and north of Great Western Road.  Unfortunately,
the trails are being used by motor bikers, which carves them into ruts.  Also, many
side trails are confusing. Even with a compass, it is difficult to find the original
trails.  The center trail, from 001 to 004 to 009 and 010 has Cape Cod Pathways
markers on trees.  Look for them along the way.

The trail in the east half has two segments, from 001 to 003, and from 004 to 009.
Watch for the sharp changes in direction at intersections.   Where it crosses the
center trail at 009, walk up to the lookout at 011.  The trail on the west half begins
there and continues through 012 and 013 to another lookout at 014.  Return to the
parking lot.
